If you’re a real estate agent not seeing the success you want, the solution might be simpler than you think. It’s not necessarily easy, but it’s straightforward: get comfortable being uncomfortable. Pushing past that initial discomfort is the key to unlocking massive growth in your business. And there’s one powerful activity that embodies this principle more than any other - shooting videos.
Let’s be clear: every single agent who wants to achieve significant success should be creating video content. Regularly. It doesn’t have to be perfect; it just has to be authentic. Share market updates, talk about your day, or tell a story. The more you do it, the better you become.
If you’re hesitant to do so, just think back to your first anything; it was probably awkward. The same goes for filming yourself on video. Veteran agents will remember their first cringe-worthy YouTube post, but that was a necessary first step for building the comfort and skill needed to communicate their stories, share their expertise, and promote their business today.
Here are three critical things you’re missing out on by avoiding video content creation:
1. You get higher conversion rates from leads who will likely look you up. If they find a social media profile devoid of video, they may simply move on. This is especially true of younger buyers and sellers. Video allows potential clients to learn about your personality and approach. Not having video content today can signal that you’re behind the times or not a top-tier professional.
2. Creating content sharpens your presentation skills. It teaches you to do research, articulate your thoughts clearly, and present information compellingly. This practice directly translates into better buyer and seller presentations. You’ll be seen as more knowledgeable and confident. Talking to a camera can transform your ability to speak off the cuff, making you a more persuasive and prepared agent in any situation.
3. Your influence and reach strengthen. Your friends, family, and past clients already know and trust you. Video keeps you top-of-mind and strengthens that connection by letting them see you more regularly. Furthermore, every major social media algorithm prioritizes original video content. Platforms want to keep users engaged, and video does exactly that. By posting video content, you dramatically increase the reach and engagement of all your content—including your new listing photos and accomplishment posts.
The best part is you don’t need to reinvent the wheel. You just need to start.
If you’re an agent, I’m proposing a 30-Day Challenge. I challenge you to shoot one video every day for the next 30 days. Don’t overthink it. Don’t critique it. Don’t ask for opinions. The most common reason agents fail is that they record a video, hate how they look or sound, get negative feedback, and quit. Ignore the feedback at first. The goal isn’t to be perfect; it’s to build the habit. The refinement comes later.
This is the same mentality you apply to prospecting and lead calling: focus on the activity itself, not the immediate results. Just get the reps in. The quality will follow.
If this resonates with you and you’re ready to take on the challenge, I’d love to hear about it. Send me an email at andrew@duovermovement.com or call me at (813) 359-8990 to let me know you’re committing to 30 days of video, or if you have any questions and concerns about your work. Your future, more successful self will thank you for embracing the discomfort today.
