Hi I’m Andrew Duncan and I’ve built a top-selling real estate team in Tampa. I just moved to LPT Realty after being with REMAX for years. The splits are better, the revenue share is better, and it’s honestly the perfect business model now that we can build on the existing success of proven cloud brokerage models. I invite you to check out LPT Realty. Move your license over to us. We’re a brokerage focused on listings and profitability.

Why are some real estate agents still succeeding while others are falling behind? The industry has changed, and what worked during high-volume years may not work today. I’ve worked through multiple market cycles, from the Great Recession to the ups and downs brought on by the pandemic. One thing is clear right now: some agents are still relying on old habits in a slower, more competitive environment. However, the ones who are succeeding today are focused on three specific areas.

Here are the three secrets to a successful career in today’s real estate market:

1. Be coachable. The most successful agents are coachable. They stay open to feedback and are willing to change. It’s not enough to rely on experience or believe that your current approach will continue to work. Agents who feel entitled or who resist advice are often the ones who remain stuck. Growth in today’s market starts with your willingness to learn, adjust, and improve.

“You need to be in an environment that challenges you.”

2. Communicate with more people. Agents who are growing their business are reaching out to more people every day. That means more calls, more texts, more conversations, and more appointments. We track this through follow-up systems that monitor the number of contacts made and the time spent engaging with clients. You need to know your numbers. That includes call volume, appointment setting rates, and conversion percentages. Without tracking those, you’re operating without a clear plan.

3. Be around the right group of people. Ask yourself if the people around you support your growth. Are you in a space that pushes you to improve and keeps you accountable? Are there real opportunities where you are? If the answer is no, it may be time to evaluate where you’re spending your time. Sometimes the issue is personal, but in other cases, the environment may be limiting your potential.

If you want to succeed in this market, focus on staying coachable, increasing your outreach, and putting yourself in a growth-oriented environment. These habits build momentum, strengthen your performance, and keep you ready for when the market begins to rise again.

If you need more detailed advice on how to approach the current market, I’d be happy to help you. You can call me at 813-955-1079 or email me at andrew@theduncanduo.com. I’ll guide you every step of the way.
